Interpretation

Growth failure likely if height line has crossed two percentile lines, or if height velocity is below following cutoffs:

Short stature+HV above these cutoffs: usually nonpathologic etiology e.g. familial short stature or constitutional delay of growth. Basic eval(Hx,PE,adult height prediction,and bone age determination)

Short stature+HV below these cutoffs: more likely pathologic etiology: additional eval warranted

Note: use bone age for child's age in projected age calculation if bone age is delayed or advanced from chronological age.

If projected height is within 2 SD (8.5cm) of midparental height (if midparental height is within the projected height range above), then height is in expected range for family
